Interview... so i had my interview yesterday w/santa clara pd. Praise God! that was the best interview of my life. Throughout the interview i was like.. wow.. this is going well... Thank you Lord.. and it's all you! One question that was interesting was when they asked... "what law would you get rid of if you had to?"... what the heck? i'm a psych major.. not legal studies.. so the only thing off the top of my mind was 'J-walking'. after i told them that i went to Cal, they started laughing, b/c they understood the situation there. i explained how i read a study (actually a friend told me of it) where ppl are much safer 'j-walking' than using the crosswalks. How is this so u ask, grasshopper? =P well ppl j-walking look to make sure they're not gonna get hit before committing an illegal act... whereas ppl using the crosswalk have a false sense of security by using the "safe zone"... then BAM! they get hit more often. they had a good laugh at that one... so anyways.. the interview only lasted about 20min even though i answered roughly 15 questions or so. afterwards, i thought i was gonna leave, but the guy told me to have a seat and just wait. in the back of my mind i was thinking... jeez.. are they gonna make me write an essay? i just wanna go home... but a background investigator came down and said i passed.. from there he had me fill out some preliminary background paperwork, along with writing a 20min descriptive essay of an accident scene. *whew*.. so this solidifies a bit more that this is what God has in store for me in the future. However this does not guarantee that i'll become a cop. Who knows what God has planned for us... it's not our job to question where He'll guide and lead us, but it's our job to trust in His plan, because He knows what's best for each and every one of us.
Prayer mtng... we had a small showing last night.. Chinsan, Neil, Christine, and myself. so we basically start off with personal devotional time. Chinsan pics the passage beforehand and has questions to it, that u answer on ur own. When everyone is done, we share. Then we share personal prayer requests, and we pray for that, including our church, and the world (generally speaking). but man... it's such a blessing to listen to Chinsan and Neil. Those guys are like spiritual heavy weights... freakin awesome... here's the passage we went over last night.. then i'll list some questions that they had about the passage...
Matthew 25:1-13. 1"The Kingdom of Heaven can be illustrated by the story of ten bridesmaids[1] who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom. 2Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. 3The five who were foolish took no oil for their lamps, 4but the other five were wise enough to take along extra oil. 5When the bridegroom was delayed, they all lay down and slept. 6At midnight they were roused by the shout, `Look, the bridegroom is coming! Come out and welcome him!' 7"All the bridesmaids got up and prepared their lamps. 8Then the five foolish ones asked the others, `Please give us some of your oil because our lamps are going out.' 9But the others replied, `We don't have enough for all of us. Go to a shop and buy some for yourselves.' 10"But while they were gone to buy oil, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was locked. 11Later, when the other five bridesmaids returned, they stood outside, calling, `Sir, open the door for us!' 12But he called back, `I don't know you!'13"So stay awake and be prepared, because you do not know the day or hour of my return.
-is there a significance in the number 10 and 5?
-the point that even though half were prepared... they ALL fell asleep, which means that they were all surprised at the time that the groom came.
-in some versions the term "bridesmaids" is translated to "virgins". was the groom planning to marry all the "virgins"? or are they just invited to the party?
-i was truly blessed by the amount of insights into this passage.. i wish my regular bible study was like this.. but then again.. i'm not always reading parables.
Oh.. so after prayer mtng, they were having a baptism and confirmation mtng upstairs. i just sat in and listened, b/c it was my first time seeing that at kcpc. it was awesome seeing the head pastor and the elders sitting at the head table asking the college/yag/hs kids questions. so anyways.. afterwards, i played some pong w/chinsan, p-ting, and some stanford folks. and ok.. i just have to share this... so p-ting takes off his sweatshirt.. then this stanford girl is like.. i'm gonna take my turtleneck sweater off... and i seriously thought she was kidding.. but she wasn't! and mind u, we're in church, and i don't wanna make a doulbe standard.. b/c yes, i'm sure girls get hot too and they need to lose some layers of clothing.. but all she had on was this really tight tank and her bra wasn't the smooth kind. how can u not look when it's sticking right in ur face! and to make matters worse.. let's just say she wasn't flat... at all! so anyways.. hello lady! ur playing w/a stranger (me), ur bf (k who cares.. he's ur bf).. and a pastor, and ok another stanford guy.. but hello... can anyone say... STUMBLING?!?! anyways... i'm proud of myself.. b/c after the first 10 seconds of being surprised/dumbfounded.. i focused in on my game and tried not to look in her general direction... but damn.. when she's serving to u! haha.. (focus on the ball..) too funny... i had to share.. i know a few of u would be amused w/this story.
oh yea... rebuke me.. i gotta catch up on my bible readings.
