it's been a long weekend. good, but tiring.
Friday.. took my mom to watch LOTR. It was good. Probably the most satisfying trilogy ever. Is Kill Bill gonna be a trilogy? haha... anyways.. my only gripe is that the ending was long. can't wait for the extended dvd's to come out as one whole set. besides that i stayed home friday night. it was cool tho, b/c hong taught me basic chess strategy! i'm actually NOT a terrible player anymore. now, i'm just a so-so terrible player. haha... this is the way i analyze my game... i micromanage, i don't have great vision (strategy), but i start off well. haha.. that should count for something. oh yea... and i played frank as well, and man... i seriously thought i won at least 3 times! it was the most satisfying experience, but then i lost. haha.. i can't believe it! and frank even said that he was hoping for a draw. jeez...
Saturday... did some holiday shopping, and bought myself stuff.. hehe... so anyways.. i went clubbing that night. it was horrible. i took my cousin meenchae to meet up w/my other cousin, sungmin. we get there... and he has like 5 guys w/him. great... sausage fest. we get to Whisper... and altho cover was $5, there weren't many ppl there. so we decided to check out 550, but that place wasn't poppin... so we finally headed over to DNA Lounge. sick of these $20 covers. so we get there... place is pretty packed. so how was the dancing? pretty bad. i only danced like 3 min total. the rest of the time, i was just standing around... sucks when u don't go w/girls. anyways.. the one good thing in the night was that there were these two girls dancing up on the stage. they weren't hoochie at all... but man.. i was just really into their style of dancing. it had this subtle popping flow with the footwork and everything. man! they were so freakin awesome. i was trying to memorize stuff one of the girls was doing to add to my own repertoire, but i'm not sure if i'll be able to recreate it. so yea.. if i could dance.. then i'd totally love to battle them girls! haha... i'm not talkin like bust out the cardboard or anything like that.. but u know... strut my stuff.. haha.. anyways... so here's my theory on the 3 types of clubbin guys... there are more types, but i'll just list these for now:
1. the wall guys
- self explanatory.. stay blended into the wall
2. the lurkers
- the moment a group of girls break up... they're in for the kill on the 2 or 3 girls left remaining on the dance floor. this is where u'll see most of the freaks. haha
3. the shield
- this is the job of the guy friend or boy friend. they pretty much serve as a barrier against oncoming guys that try to freak the girl from behind w/o her knowing. haha
Sunday: they didn't have college service... so i just had children's for the day. Ting jdsn is taking over for John jdsn... and man.. i'm just so used to John's teaching. haha.. Ting is hilarious, but i think the kids need more substance. i think Ting has to realize that the 4-6th grade kids are actually smart kids... not to say that the 1st -3rd aren't.. but his style of bringing in stuffed animals and using them like puppets works better on the 1st -3rd. but then again, everyone has their own style. God will work through him as effectively as He worked through John. it's actually kinda cool, b/c Ting is more of a professor. He's good at lecturing instead of sermons. but it's cool to see him teaching the kids about versus in Isaiah that point to Christ. He's actually interpreting the text for them, verse by verse.
so that night... i met up w/a few friends. we went to Spenger's Fish Grotto. One of the most famous restaurants in Berkeley, sadly, it was only my first time there... haha... anyways... we had this beautiful waitress assigned to our table. she was half japanese and half white, petite, not much in terms of curves, but she was very nice, and even gave me a free beer!! so anyways... i read the signs man. the eye contact... the smiles... dang... so we left the restuarant, i said bye to my friends, and i got in my car.. and i didn't turn on the engine. i sat there.. and i debated whether or not i should go back in... and what i should say... 2min later.. i got back outta my car... and headed towards the restaurant. right before walking through the doors... i'm thinking, "what the hell are u doing? i can't believe i'm doing this"... so i walk thru.. and i see her speaking to this older guy (and i can tell he's trying his best to make conversation w/her).. anyways.. she sees me and delightfully breaks conversation w/the other guy... and asks if i left anything... i said no... and said, "Mika, right?" she nods and smiles... "lemme ask you two questions"... "would you happen to be single?"... shakes her head, "no, sorry" ... and i said.."oh, sorry... yea... that's it, just one question then. thanks". what was the second question i was gonna ask her? it was gonna be something like... "would u be interested in getting to know this 23yo guy as a friend?" i had to throw the age in there, b/c what if she was too old or too young or whatevers... ya know? and i didn't want to ask how old she was. so yea... and afterwards. i got back in my car... and i felt good. i felt like a real man. had no regrets... there are no if's & maybe's... like, "only if i went back and talked to her, maybe there could've been a chance"... i did.. and i found out. oh yea... so my one mistake was not reading the signs incorrectly... but not factoring in the environment. well.. honestly.. i did... but just the chance that i could be wrong seemed to small. i was wrong.. haha... oh well.
