had a very interesting fun night yesterday... i went home knowing exactly what to make... but i open the door to the kitchen and find dog crap everywhere.. my cousin kept her dog in the kitchen while she went to school... so i fed the dog and didn't clean anything up b/c i wanted her to see exactly what'll happen the rest of the semester without training. anyways, i got pissed... i had to get out of the house so i called my old middle school friend who's attending USF law and we went to Rouge for Nick's Burrito's.. good cheap stuff. below is an exerpt from my friend's blog on the night:
dude so random, but in a good way. went to get some tacos with a friend, and as we're sitting at the bar, these people started talking to us. it started with the guy asking me which taco i was eating, and the girl asking us if we were korean.
we ended up chopping it up like crazy, and the next thing you know, they buy us a round of drinks and suggest we continue the conversation at another bar because the first place was closing down (and at 9pm, can you imagine? so early!)
it turns out the girl was an attorney, who happened to know some of the attorneys i met at a mixer last friday. and wanna know something even stranger? the guy was actually AT the mixer, even though he's not an attorney, because he has a lot of attorney friends that were there. small freaking world.
i did NOT expect to be spending my night this way. but it was really very pleasant, and i'm happy we met. and in a strange way, my hope is restored in korean americans that have settled into their careers. because, let me tell ya, it was looking pretty bleak for a bit. on the other hand, they said, like many many many others, that i was not suited to be an attorney. arg.
i had a nice time. there was a surreal moment in the conversation when sam looked over at the guy (whose name just happened to be sam), and i realized they were wearing pretty much the same thing (light blue polo and the same colored khakis) - we joked that the younger sam was going to become the older sam in about 10 years. then the sams were like, "hey look at you two," so i look across the table at the girl, and lo and behold, we're both in black sweaters, with me an aspiring attorney and her already one. wierd, huh?
we all had a great time... exchanged biz cards n stuff. and they're church go'ers too... even better. i made a couple decisions last night after talking to these older, wiser, strangers and my friend... good decisions.
